In a surprising turn of events, its said that the proposed demolition of a row of derelict garages on Northumberland Walk in Hartlepool’s Belle Vue area has now been abruptly halted. Just weeks after the Teesside Housing Giant submitting an application to Hartlepool Borough Council. According to the most recent reports, Thirteen Housing Group Ltd have now withdrawn their plans, leaving residents in the dark as to why—with no explanation provided.

As reported earlier by HBC Exposed in this article last month, the garages had long been a blight on the local community, falling into disrepair and becoming a hotspot for vandalism and anti-social behaviour. After mounting concerns from councillors and local residents, Thirteen Housing Group appeared to be beginning to take at least some action on the site, submitting an application proposing to demolish the structures and addressing the ongoing issues.

At the time, it seemed like a step forward for a community tired of seeing the site deteriorate, But now, with the application suddenly pulled at the last minute, all the hopes appear to have been dashed, with a lack of transparency from the Teesside housing provider leaving locals feeling 'frustrated', and questioning whether the site will once again be left to "wreck and ruin," as fears grow the cycle of neglect and crime will continue unchecked.

The latest development raises questions over Thirteen Housing Group’s commitment to Hartlepool & the action the councils been taking in spurring the lacklustre Teesside Landlord into action. With no official statement forthcoming, residents are said to be left wondering what prompted the sudden change of heart. Will the local council now step in to hold the landlord accountable and push for a resolution?

Or will the garages remain a persistent burden on the Northumberland Walk community?

For now, the future of the site once again remains uncertain, and the people of Hartlepool are left waiting for answers.
