Fixed Penalty Notice Issued by Hartlepool Borough Council after its claimed the police van was "persistently using a marked Taxi bay whilst not on emergency duties"...
28th March 2025
Cleveland Police have been left 'red faced', after council Traffic Wardens slapped a fixed penalty notice on a police van which was illegally parked in a marked Taxi bay.

It comes following what's said to have been numerous complaints regarding illegal or inconsiderate parking by the force of no public confidence in Hartlepool's Avenue Road in the last few months, with reports of police vehicles being parked in such a dangerously obstructive manner, that pedestrians in some cases have been left unable to safely cross the road, with even some vehicles being left struggling to turn into junctions because of badly parked police cars.

The police van which was slapped with the fixed penalty notice yesterday afternoon (27th March 2025) was quickly shifted by Cleveland Police when photographs of the offending vehicle were then circulated on social media, with many coming out to praise the Civil Enforcement Officer for issuing the ticket.
However its been claimed the last laugh will be on Cleveland Police, following claims the scandal ridden police force is likely to pay for the fixed penalty notice out of local tax payers pockets.
According to the Highway Code There is no exemption policy or a law, that allows for non emergency police vehicles to park in Taxi ranks without good reason, the only 'good reason' being that the vehicle was on active emergency duty at the time, which Cleveland Police Exposed has found was not !.
Neither Hartlepool Borough Council, or Cleveland Police have issued any statement to Durham & Teesside Today as of the time of this publication, however the incident has reportedly issued a strong message that even Teesside's most corrupt institution is seemingly not above the law....
At least in Hartlepool that is !
