Plans to transform former office unit into a microbrewery have been approved by Hartlepool Borough Council, with no objections raised by the local community.
The application, originally submitted by Mr. A. Sewell, sought to re-purpose the building at Burn Road in Hartlepool from its previous use as office space into a microbrewery with additional office facilities.
The approval marks a significant step forward for the development, which HBC Exposed previously reporting on it back in late November 2024. At the time, the plans highlighted the intention to bring new life to the property, which had remained vacant for over a year.
According to the planning statement, the proposed microbrewery will utilise the attached garage space as the Brewing Room, with the remainder of the ground floor designated for storage. The upstairs rooms will then be repurposed into offices for sales and customer service operations.
The approved plans also include limited external works, such as the installation of a 450mm diameter flue to accommodate the brewery’s extraction system. This flue will pass through the roof of the lean-to Brewing Room, ensuring the facility meets required operational standards.
The council’s decision to approve the plans comes as welcome news to both the applicant and the local community. The microbrewery is anticipated to not only revitalise the disused property but also contribute positively to the local economy by supporting a growing small business.
Hartlepool Borough Council’s planning officers praised the application for its thoughtful reuse of the site and minimal external alterations, which ensure the development aligns with the area’s character. The absence of objections from the local community further underscores the support for the project.
With approval now granted, work on the microbrewery is expected to begin in the coming months, bringing new energy and opportunities to the area...
