Proposals submitted last year to transform a former caretaker’s bungalow into a children’s nursery have been given the green light despite whats said to have been parking concerns raised by a nearby business.
The bungalow, nestled on Southburn Terrace within the grounds of Stranton Primary School, is set to become home to Little Rays of Sunshine Daycare. The application, submitted by Ms. Toni Ray and her representatives at S2C Architects, proposes a bright new future for the building as an early-years nursery.
The approved plans include alterations to windows and doors, along with an access ramp to ensure the nursery is accessible and welcoming. According to the planning statement, the conversion promises to benefit the community in multiple ways by enhancing local educational offerings, and is also set to create five full-time jobs—a boost for the town's economy.
Whilst the project was mostly met with support, it did spark one objection from a nearby business concerned about parking pressures in the area. However, council departments raised no objections, paving the way for the plans to be approved.
