Cleveland Police have arrested two men following stop on a suspicious vehicle in Hartlepool earlier this week...


Officers from The Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team are said to have stopped a Nissan Nivara in the towns Brierton Lane on the 7th January 2025, where its claimed checks on the vehicle revealed it was being driven on false registration plates and suspected to have been stolen from the Manchester area.


The driver and passenger, two males aged 21 and 30, were searched where its claimed a quantity of class A, B and C drugs were recovered.


Both men were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession with intent to supply class A, B and C drugs.


The 21-year-old driver was also further arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen and driving without insurance.


A further search of one of the suspects’ addresses, revealed a Ford Transit van also being displayed on false number plates.


Cleveland Police have said both men have been released on bail whilst investigations continue.
